Julian Sing designs scale model of Concert Hall

    FOC FOR 23Oct2009

FOC’s Imagineering department collaborated with Aldo Vos and Gabri Klarenbeek from Broekbakema architects, to translate their 2D ideas into the design of a 3D scale model.
We started by converting their 2D CAD files into a digital 3D model of a Concert Hall in Windschoten. After that the environment of the building was brought to life by adding nature and people to it. The model was split in two so it could more easily illustrate the layout and concept to the viewer.
The model was completely laser sintered including fine details like people at a 1:200 scale

“For us it was a new method. We were surprised by the result, specially the level of detail. It  is very impressive!”

Freedom Of Creation designs for Autodesk

    FOC FOR 7Oct2009

Autodesk asked Freedom Of Creation to produce a segment of a recent ONL architects project for the Autodesk head office.. With the goal of illustrating the advancements in 3D design and production. The advanced structure presented in this scale model was used to create the largest BMW showroom in The Netherlands. This is an one piece model laser sintered in Nylon and colored grey to finish.

Freedom Of Creation designs “2Litre house” model

    FOC FOR 4Oct2009

Working with Zelian and PlasticsEurope Freedom Of Creation created a laser sintered scale model that explains the features of the development project. We wanted to bring the model to life by adding in people, furniture, cars and even light fittings. Going into this detail created a sense of fun and interest. The model is used by PlasticsEurope to promote sustainable housing development projects.  The Scale for this 3d printed model is 1:90.

Scale model designed for Hootsmans architects

    FOC FOR 30Sep2009

FOC Imagineering creates a unique scale model for Hootsmans architects. The assignment was to convert a chapel into a school building for the Communal Institution for Child Protection. The conversion comprised of twelve classrooms all of which are reversible and temporary.

The model was laser sintered in one go and mounted on a white base finished off with a clear display case, the scale for this model was 1:100.

‘It is wonderful having discovered the 3D printing process for the construction of our architectural models.  In the case of our design for chapel De Zande, with its fragmented interior, Laser sintering made a marvellous model.’ -Hootsmans Architects (more…)

    FOC scales up their designs

    FOC FOR 17Jun2009

There are a few 3D printing processes, which are aimed to build very large structures such as buildings. Here are the first images of our tests with the D-Shape process. We have a lot of faith for the future of this technology and we wish Enrico Dini and his team all the best with perfecting their process. Here is a link to D-Shape.
