Freedom Of Creation takes 3D printing mainstream

    FOC Collection 27Sep2011

Until now 3D printing has been considered expensive and only available to a selected few. Freedom Of Creation plans to change this by selling it’s design collection as well as 3D printers at 9 Bijenkorf department stores in The Netherlands during the “3 Dwaze Dagen”.

Some products of the collection will be 3D printed live on the spot during these 3 crazy Bijenkorf annual sales days. The department stores which are part of this event are Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Arnhem, Den Haag, Eindhoven, Enschede, Maastricht, Utrecht and Rotterdam.

The Bijenkorf website “3 Dwaze Dagen” is the most visited website in the Netherlands during these 3 days, with visitors numbers climbing over 3 million. It is not expected to be more quiet on the floor either since an estimated 1.2 million people will visit these sales days.

Freedom Of Creation collaborates with Bits from Bytes, a 3D printer manufacturer from the UK, in order to bring the technology into people’s homes. It will be the first time 3D printers have been commercialized by a large mainstream department store chain in the world. The special Bijenkorf introduction price for the 3D printers is set at €1247,- which enables anybody to become the designer they always wanted to be.

Please follow this link for the opening times, addresses and additional information about “Drie Dwaze Dagen”.

Freedom Of Creation collaborates with Wallpaper Magazine

    FOC FOR 28Jul2011

Freedom Of Creation has been collaborating extensively with Wallpaper Magazine over the past months. First at the Milan Design week with a live 3D printing design event, which showcased 3D printing on location to hundreds of visitors.

More recently Freedom Of Creation has made a 3D printed version of the Wallpaper logo, printed with the spectacular Stereo Lithography technology, this technology utilises UV-laser beams to harden a whitish photopolymer resin.
In the aftermath of the Milan Event Wallpaper published a nice article featuring the @BitsFromBytes 3D printers we had on our stand in Milan.

3D printed structure for Next Architects

    FOC FOR 3May2010

Freedom Of Creation was approached by NEXT architects to create an exact replica of an existing roof structure for a scale model. NEXT Architects needed to include the existing building structure in their model. But how to create such a complex structure quickly and precisely?

3D printing was the answer, the parts were drawn by NEXT architects and produced in one of our Laser Sintering systems. Each of the beam sections is only 1mm in thickness. Combining the 3D printed parts with the traditional maquette built by Made by mistake, NEXT Architects created a fabulous model.
