At Freedom Of Creation, we always support new talents, who wish to work with us. If you are a talented design student and wish to work with us on graduate design projects, which are related to the design philosophy at FOC, feel free to send us open submissions for collaborations.

Freedom Of Creation designed the Onitsuka Tiger shoe, which was completely 3D printed in nylon.

Janne Kyttanen, the designer of the products, comments: “This is of course great news for us to get Apple on board. Most of FOC’s products are premium priced due to the high costprice of larger volume 3D printed objects. Since we now have a small-sized product in our hands and the network from Apple selling them, the production quantities are expected to become very high. This is also great news for the entire 3D printing industry, because finally there is a product on the market which can really bring the technology to the masses.”

Frederik has a design studio specialized in interior and product design, where concept and renewal are main points. Also Droog Design took designs of Frederik Roijé in their collection. FOC is very pleased that Frederik is on the FOC Talents jury, because he uses many different CAD/CAM techniques to create his products.

Frederik is also the designer of the ring “Two of a Kind“, which provides a perfect context for judging the wedding rings that the FOC Talents had to design.

The winner of FOC Talents assignment 2010-Q1will be announced on the FOC website on March 15th. From that day onwards all fifteen wedding ring designs will be for sale in the FOC online store.

The show runs until 5th of March 2010, from 09:00 – 17:00.

The chair structure is inspired on Janne Kyttanen’s Macedonia tray, the 3D printed outer shell is manufactured in a single piece. Only one shell can be fitted into the state of the art 3D printing machines, thereby making this the one of the largest single pieces ever to be produced with Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) by Freedom Of Creation.

The rapid manufactured shell is seamlessly connected to a high gloss finished metal base, which allows the chair to swivel freely. The cutting edge outer structure is combined with a traditional high quality padded leather shell which can easily be popped in and out of the chair structure.

To create a nice contrast between the soft leather and hard outer structure, a high gloss finish was applied to the nylon structure.

This year is very special for Freedom Of Creation, since it is our 10 year anniversary. Later this year a 10 year anniversary book will be launched and various exhibitions will be held where more designs are exhibited. The show at WFC Amsterdam gives a good impression of the enormous amount of work that has been realized in the past 10 years in the field of 3D printed designs. Many of these designs are part of permanent museum collections around the world and are iconic design items exhibited and published worldwide. Besides our own collection, works for clients will be exhibited such as Onitsuka Tiger/Asics, Heineken, Feadship, Philips, Ted Noten, Bijenkorf, L’Oreal and Freshfiber.

First part includes the creation of individualized awards, each speedboat award has the name of the recipient embossed in the design. More to follow on this project soon.

The cutting edge fact for this project was mainly in the speed in which it was modeled, produced, assembled and delivered to the client, all within 8 days.

The competition model included a 3D printed building, surrounded by an urban environment, all modeled by Julian Sing (head of Imagineering department) and printed using Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) in one go, including cars, people, bicycles and even a piece of art.

Janne Kyttanen designs new space dividers for the new head office of Bijenkorf in Amsterdam, the project was designed together with Qua Associates, who were also the interior designers of the new Bijenkorf headquarters in Amsterdam.

This versatile new system is constructed out of 50 cm wide hexagon panels, which seamlessly connect together with a unique clicking system.
